Welcome to the library at Westbrook Hay!
About the Library The library is here to help and encourage the children to acquire an enthusiasm for reading, both for pleasure and in support of the curriculum. The library at Westbrook Hay is open to all children and staff. It is well stocked with over 4,000 fiction and non-fiction books, supplementing individual collections held in classrooms. As well as the book stock, the library is equipped with tables and chairs so that children can sit and read or study. There are also two networked computers in the library that can be used to do homework or carry out research. Borrowing Books Children may borrow 1 fiction and 1 non-fiction book for a two week period. If books are required for longer, they can be renewed. To borrow a book, children should go to the issue desk and have the book checked out on their borrower card. Books for return can be given to the librarian or put in the Returns box on the issue desk, if the library is closed, books can be placed in the Returns box just outside the library. Library Training Children can take part in the librarian training programme run by the librarian. The programme encourages them to understand how the library is organised, how books are processed and enables then to become involved in simple tasks relating to library management.
