Townsend-Warner Competition

Townsend-Warner Competition

Established 138 years ago, the Townsend-Warner History Prize is a prestigious national contest for preparatory school students who love history. The prize is independent of any official exams or tests, and the participants join voluntarily out of their passion for historical learning and analysis.

The Townsend-Warner competition has a history of producing outstanding winners, such as George Orwell (Eric Blair) and Kwasi Kwarteng among others. Every year, about 1,000 students from various schools across the UK take part in the challenging one-hour paper.

We congratulate all those who have shown the confidence to enter. This is our third year of joining the competition and 20 children took paper 1. We are thrilled that two of our pupils, Mac & Sam, have advanced to the next round. Congratulations to them and to everyone who participated
