Dance In The Curriculum
Dance is taught as part of the curriculum from Nursery to Year 2 and involves "Creative Dance" (based around stories) where the children can express themselves freely mainly to classical music. Dance technique which includes "Body Actions" such as: transfer of weight, travel, turn, jump, gesture, make different shapes. Dynamics (energy, time, continuity). Space (personal space, general space, levels, directions, size and pathways. Relationships (in relation to whom or what is being performed).
There is plenty of additional opportunities for the children to learn dance at Westbrook Hay.
