Seniors

In September 2023, the Governors announced that we will be extending our provision by opening a co-educational senior section to our school.

This new development will eventually see the addition of Years 9, 10 and 11, thus providing parents with the additional choice of their sons and daughters remaining at Westbrook Hay to study their GCSEs.

Already offering a high-quality all-round education for boys and girls aged 3-13, this development sees the addition of Year 9 pupils from September 2025, with Year 10 and Year 11 cohort moving through the school in the subsequent years.

This move enables pupils to benefit from an all-through education at a school in which they are confident, well known and happily achieving. Senior pupils will benefit from excellent facilities at Westbrook Hay including a Performing Arts Centre, modern spacious classrooms, a sports hall and a heated outdoor swimming pool. Pupils will soon benefit from a purpose-built STEAM building which will be home to a brand new Art Studio, modern Design Technology facilities, alongside two state-of-the-art science laboratories and a new Computing Suite.

Life as a senior at Westbrook Hay is busy and rewarding. Pupils are taught by subject specialists in small classes, allowing for a personalised learning journey where every face and name is known. The curriculum in Lower Seniors (Year 7 and 8) is kept purposefully broad, allowing pupils to discover new subjects, develop a wide range of skills and foster a love of learning. As pupils move up into Upper Seniors (Year 9, 10 and 11), there is more concentrated emphasis on academic study.

At Westbrook we know that success in public examinations looks different for each of our pupils. We are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment in which to take GCSEs, prioritising building confidence and encouraging each pupil to give of their best, without imposing counterproductive, relentless pressure. Our pupils will leave as confident young people who are ready to take the next step in their educational journey.
