On Saturday 7th December, the Colts A squad (a mix of 10 and 11-year olds) travelled to Watford to play against the best schools in Hertfordshire in the U11 Finals. The league format saw the seven teams all play each other, and we started excellently, playing some fine football, moving the ball quickly and looking sharp. Solomon, Josh W, Drew and Rushil at the back, were outstanding and Will S was controlling the midfield as we overran our opposition. We put in a great performance to beat Haberdashers 4-0 and were scoring freely in general. We possibly started to overplay in our own half but then used the ball in to our strikers, Josh and Harvey, well with Ollie M and Will M working hard on the flanks too. We finished the league in first place and had Lodge Farm, Stevenage, in the final as they had finished runners-up.
We had beaten them 7-2 in the group, but they were better organised in this game. We had opportunities in the first half and they had some good chances on the second, but no one could break the deadlock. Extra-time came and went so it was left to penalties to decide the outcome. Josh W hit the winner which meant the boys emulated the success of our U11 As of 2011,
2014 and 2018 to win the tournament.
We move on to the South East Tournament next term. Well done to all the boys!
