Year 5 visit the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Luton

Year 5 pupils visited the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Luton as part of their Religious Study curriculum on Sikhism. The trip was an enriching experience for the children, as they learned about the key aspects of the Sikh faith and culture. They were fascinated by the reverence given to the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book that is treated as a living guru. They also gained insight into the five Ks, the symbols of Sikh identity and commitment. Moreover, they had the opportunity to see the langar, the community kitchen that serves free meals to anyone regardless of their background. The children were impressed by the Sikh practice of ‘selfless service’ and were grateful to the Sikh community for their hospitality and generosity.
