Our PSB week for Year 7’s allowed the pupils to develop their core skills and also allowed them to develop their understanding of the learning process and metacognition. During the week pupils learnt about teaching pedagogy, such as communication, questioning techniques and cognitive load theory through a series of workshops delivered by members of the Academic Leadership Team. Pupils then had the opportunity to observe a lesson in the lower part of the school, seeing if they could identify these processes within the class. Working together in small groups, pupils then planned, resourced and taught a lesson to the class they observed. The children in the Pre-Prep thought the lessons were brilliant whilst the Year 7 children were left exhausted!
