ISA Handwriting Competition

ISA Handwriting Competition

At Westbrook Hay, handwriting is an important part of our curriculum and is regularly timetabled.  This year we are proud to have entered the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Handwriting Competition.

During the spring term an in-house competition ran within each year group.  Pupils practised writing one of the ISA set poems before completing their official entry.

The standard of the entries was really high.  Mrs Busfield, Mrs Brain, Mr Warren and Mrs Bennett then had the unenviable task of judging the entries before our finalists in each year group were announced.  Their entries were then submitted to the ISA for the final judging against other schools.  This year the judging criteria included legibility, fluency, competence, accuracy, neatness and correct punctuation.

Just before we broke up for the Easter holidays our finalists came together with their pieces of work.  Well done to everyone for working so hard on their submissions.  Good luck to the finalists.
