We held our House Poetry Recitation competition for our children in Years 3 – 8 today. All pupils were asked to learn a poem from our extensive anthology and the final was a mixture of performances of the best from across the year groups. The children used gesture, expression and intonation to bring their poems to life. It was so wonderful to see the children take responsibility to learn the poems themselves and decide how they would like to perform them. They were very impressive.
This year we are very grateful to Simon Winchester, Academic Director at St Margaret's, Bushey who was able to judge the competition. He offered some excellent feedback and advice for us all for next year.
