Pupils in Years 5 - 8 participated today in the final of our House Debating Competition. For the final, pupils were debating the motion ‘This House believes that it would be better to be able to fly than be invisible’. Four main speakers on each team gave creative and passionate speeches proposing or opposing the motion. Humour was used to great effect by many with some speakers forcing the audience to consider ethics and history as part of their arguments. During the debates, the floor was opened to the audience and a large number of our pupils chose to read out their own shorter speeches, to win maximum points for their house. In the end, Dragon prevailed, narrowly beating Griffin for the title.
